¼ c. margarine, Crisco or oil
1 TBS. baking powder
1 c. cornmeal
½ tsp. salt
1 c. flour
1 c. milk
2 TBS. sugar
1 egg beaten
In a bowl mix, add cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, salt. If you add Crisco, cut it in at this time with a pastry cutter. (If you use oil or margarine, add it with the milk.) Mix egg and milk together and add to flour mixture. Mix until just mixed and pour into a greased 8 inch pan. Bake at 425 degrees for 20–25 minutes. (Sometimes I add less cornmeal and more flour for a lighter bread.)
