Lemon Bread

Ingredients

1/3 cup melted butter or margarine
1 cup sugar
2 eggs beaten
¼ tsp. almond extract
1 ½ cup flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
½ cup milk
1 TBS. grated lemon peel
½ cup chopped nuts

Syrup for hot cooked bread:
Mix the lemon juice and sugar and pour over hot cooked bread:
3 TBS. lemon juice
½ cup sugar

Directions

Blend well the butter and sugar, beat in eggs one at a time. Add extract. Add dry ingredients to butter mixture alternately with milk. Fold in the lemon peel and nuts. Put wax paper in loaf pans and pour mixture in pan. Bake at 325 degrees for about 1 hour. Makes 1 loaf. As soon as bread is done pour the syrup over the hot bread and cool 10 minutes. Remove from pans. You can take the wax paper off and let cool and wrap with plastic wrap. Delicious!!!
