4 cups warm water
4 Tbsp. yeast
3 T sugar
4 tsp. salt
4 Tbsp. shortening
7–8 cups flour
Mix all ingredients until dough can be handled. Cut into 4 pieces. Let stand 5 minutes. Beat each piece with rolling pin for 1 minute. Mold into loaves and put into greased loaf pans. Let stand for 30 minutes. Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes. If making small loaves, bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.
