Ingredients

2 TBS. yeast
1 c. warm water
1 tsp. sugar
Mix and set aside.

In a mixing bowl add:
¼ c. shortening
½ c. sugar
2 c. scalded milk
1 TBS. salt
3 eggs beaten

Mix these 5 ingredients and add the yeast mixture. Then add about 3 c. flour—mix until a good texture. More if necessary. Knead. Put into a bowl and let it rise until double in size. Pat down onto a floured surface and roll out to about ¾ inches. Cut the do–nuts out and place on a tablecloth on table & cover with cloth & let rise again. Drop into hot Crisco oil and cook on both sides. Drain. Glaze the hot do–nuts with icing and drain on rack after glazing. Mix together—it will be thin. Enjoy!!!

1 c. water
1 tsp. vanilla
