Gingerbread

Ingredients

1 cup white sugar
1 cup shortening
2 eggs
½ cup cold water
2 tsp. baking soda
1 cup molasses
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
3 cups flour (probably more)

Directions

Cream shortening, add sugar gradually, and slightly beaten eggs. Combine water, soda, and molasses, and beat vigorousely. Add to first mixture. Sift dry ingredients with flour. Add to first mixture. Add more flour. Add more flour to make dough just firm enough to roll. Chill. Roll and cut out. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
