2 cups sugar ¼ cups margarine
2 cups water ¼ tsp. cinnamon
¼ tsp. nutmeg
Put these into a saucepan and boil for 5 minutes and set aside for later. It should be about 2 cups of sauce.
Dough:
2 cups flour 2 tsp. Baking powder
½ tsp. Salt ¾ cup shortening (Crisco)
2/3 cups milk
In a bowl, put all the ingredients for the dough except the milk. Make a well in the center of the ingredients and add the milk into this well. Stir until just moistened. Knead 10–12 times on a floured surface just until smooth. Roll into a 10x12 inch rectangle.
Filling:
3 cups shredded apples (cheese grater)
Put shredded apples on top of rectangle dough.
Mix ¼ cup of sugar and ½ tsp. Cinnamon together and sprinkle on top of apples.
Roll up like cinnamon rolls. Cut with a thread or string 1 inch apart. Pinch seam.
Put rolls in a greased 13x9x2 cake pan. Pour the 2 cups of sauce (you made at the beginning) on top of the rolls.
Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes.
These are not yeast rolls but are shaped like cinnamon yeast rolls. Makes 12 rolls.
