Vanilla Custard Filling

Ingredients

1/3 c. sugar
¼ c. flour
dash of salt
1 ½ c. milk
1 egg beaten
1 ½ tsp. vanilla

Directions

Mix sugar, flour, and salt in a saucepan. Stir in the milk. Cook over the medium heat until it boils—stirring constantly. Boil for 1 minute. Take a little of the hot mixture & mix into the egg. Then blend the egg mixture into the rest of the hot mixture. Cook to boiling again. Add vanilla and mix.
