dried beef or chipped beef
(or wafer thin meat in packages)
milk
flour
butter or margarine
salt & pepper
Make a white sauce. (To each cup of milk, add 2 TBS. of flour and 2 TBS. of margarine & salt and pepper.) Melt butter in saucepan. Remove from heat and add flour to make a paste. Slowly, add milk to make a thinner and thinner paste so it won't go lumpy until the milk is all added. Put back on to burner at medium heat—stirring constantly until thickened. Cut meat into white sauce with scissors. Add salt and pepper to taste. We serve this sauce over cut potatoes with the skins on. Sometimes we add grated cheese on top. My kids like it with toast instead of potatoes. I like to serve french cut green beans and applesauce with this. A salad is also good with it. This is one of Grampa McClean's (my Dad) favorite meals!! (This sauce is also good with tuna or salmon in it.)
